Tell the Truth Tuesday: Ten
I'm not one of those moms who wept over first birthdays or the first day of school. I didn't cry when they were baptized or took their first steps (though the first giggle did make me teary eyed hehe) Birthdays are fun, I love seeing the kids grow and see the people they are becoming. They have fabulous personalities and I truly do enjoy them as they get older, however in a month Gabe is going to be ten and it's absolutely panicking me.
TEN. A decade. Double digits. TEN. That means we've been parents for a decade (and still don't feel like we have a handle on it if we're honest) We've been responsible for another persons' well being for TEN years. Gabe, of course, is super excited. Ten is fantastic. Ten is closer to middle school, ten is closer to a facebook account of his own, ten is closer to I don't know, it's just TEN! Wahoo, ten.
It's weird to think that he's going to be ten because *I* remember being ten. I was in fourth grade and remember it fairly vividly. Time is such a weird concept, isn't it?
Here's to...ten *sigh*

Friday Five:Sleep
1. How many hours of sleep do you like to get in a night?
Five or six
2. How many hours of sleep can you survive on indefinitely?
Four or Five
3. Do you enjoy napping?
Oh my goodness yes!
4. The average amount of time it takes a person to fall asleep is seven minutes--do you tend to need more or less time than that?
About the same most of the time
5. If you were offered a pill that would enable you to sleep only two hours out of every twenty-four and remain fully functional, but you could never sleep more than that, would you take it?
Hell no, I love sleeping and napping way too much :)

Wordless Wednesay (has some words)
I am an animal lover and can't resist any sort of animal at all, especially if they are in danger. *sigh* poor Hunky Hubby. Bitsy has inherited this trait from me in addition, she is the animal whisperer, I firmly believe she could tame the entire animal kingdom with just the sound of her voice and some treats.
So, that all being said, earlier this week, some mice showed up in our office (a regular occurrence, we are by open fields, it's been very cold outside as of late, and all of us are kind of slobs-good eating for mice lol)
Meet Cheezers and Trixie. They needed a home that wasn't, you know, my desk. It was too cold to put them back outside soooooo I took them home because what house isn't complete without mice. For those keeping track at home that's three cats (though one is completely outside now, little furry jerk) a dog and now two mice. And two children. And an HH to boot.
Bitsy fell instantly in love. She cleaned their bowl and fed them appropriate food and then disaster struck. Yesterday while at work, I received this message from her:
Big thank yous go out to Bam the cat, Betsy the dog, and hh the super daddy for catching mr/miss mouse and putting him where he belongs....

Daddy got her calmed down enough that she went to play with the other mouse for a while...and then I got THIS message:
Suffice to say, Bits was having a horrible day. Daddy saved the day by sending Bitsy and Momma out for Chinese for dinner but Bits was still upset by the whole thing. Won't she be surprised tomorrow when she wakes up to see this??
