Lucky Ladies

Today Bits and I went out for a ladies lunch; we split some guacamole and chips, a virgin strawberry daiquiri, and some chicken quesadillas. We didn't talk about much of anything, just ate and relaxed and listened to the music. After having lunch we ran to the library where we checked out some videos and a few books, then we went to the gas station to fill up the beast (side note: I doubled the value of our car today by filling the tank LOL). While we were inside, she asked for a diet coke and some popcorn, which of course, I let her get because who doesn't love diet coke and popcorn!? As we were driving home, our new favorite song "Good Feeling" by Flo Rida came on and we sang at the top of our lungs while munching popcorn and sipping diet coke. We got home and Bits looked at me and said "You know Mom, we really are two lucky ladies, aren't we? We had lunch and popcorn and heard our song and now we're home and it's so nice out that we can sit in the sun"

And she's RIGHT. We *are* lucky ladies...and I'm lucky enough to have a mini momma like her to remind me of this fact on a regular basis...

If you're so inclined, have a listen to our new favorite song...it's a perky sing-a-long kind of song!

Bitsy Bitsy Bitsy aka: damn you albuterol

Miss Bits-a-roo is prone to wheezing when she gets sick; it comes with the allergies she has. Since she was little when she gets a chest cold, she wheezes. The last few times it's been so bad that the doc has prescribed an inhaler for her. Earlier this week I took her into the ped's office because she was coughing so hard she was losing her breath; come to find out it was a sinus infection and an ear infection and her chest was so tight she wasn't breathing properly.

In the scheme of things, no biggie. Hooray antibiotics...and the dreaded albuterol. Albuterol is an inhaled steroid and while it works wonders, it riles her up like nobodies' business. For the last two hours I've been trying to calm her down. She gets so wound up that she will click her tongue over and over, she's hop in place, she'll yodel, she spin. It's ridiculous. It wouldn't be nearly as bad if it wasn't at bedtime when this happened, but jeez oh pete. On the plus side she will crash hard when the effects finally wear off.

Oy...

Hello There!

Been while since I updated; between moving and inefficient customer service by our internet provider (cough) we just FINALLY got back on line.

I will have a "real" update later but for now I just wanted to share some silly things Bits has said lately.

Yesterday she was laying on the couch and very seriously asked me "hey momma, do frogs have noses?" (I said I assumed they did and she seemed satisfied)

Last night for the first time since Thanksgiving weekend, Geo has had a night off, so he went to bed at the same time the rest of us did. Bits was getting a little loud in her bedroom so I hollered "hey you, be quiet" SHE yelled back "No Mom, YOU be quiet, Daddy needs to sleep" I started laughing and couldn't stop. It was so funny. She's such a goofy girl. She is constantly doing funny things. Yesterday morning when the kids woke up there was snow on the ground for the first time this year, she picked up Bam (who was a summer born kitty) and smooshed his face up against the door and said "oh look Bam, it's the first snow" and then had a ten minute conversation with him about how fun snow was and if he was a kid what he could do out in the snow. Bam looked less than impressed, but she was happy so, whatever, right?!

She's so silly and that's just one of the reasons we adore her :)

Happy Mother Day

There are a lot of mothers in my life; my mom in Michigan, my "not my mom but like a mom" in Massachusetts, my two mothers in law, my two grandmothers in law, my many aunts, cousins, sisters in law, and friends who are mommas. Lots and lots and LOTS of mommas and I'm very lucky to have all of them in my life HOWEVER there is one little momma in my life who has a very special spot in my heart and that's Bitsy.

We call Bitsy "little momma" quite often; she's a little mother hen. I was laying in bed earlier and she made a point to uncover herself and cover ME up so I was comfy. After covering me up, she patted my back and said "there you go momma, get comfy" She mothers the cat, she mothers Geo, she mothers Gabriel and pretty much anyone else who needs to be mothered (OR she deems necessary of mothering)

The title of my post is Happy Mother Day, you'll note that there was no "s" after Mother...because Bitsy is convinced that it is not MOTHER'S day, it's just MOTHER day and since I am her only Mother, there is no reason for her to say Mother's. And actually, if I was being honest, she doesn't say Mother, she actually says "mudder"

Mudder day has been a big deal to her. I was greeted with kisses and hugs this morning, then on a walk we took, she and Gabriel picked me dandelions the whole way to the store, then when we got home, she insisted on helping me in the kitchen. This evening after a nice dinner out (woohoo no cooking OR cleaning up!) she came up to Geo and said "is it still Mudder day?" very concerned; Geo assured her that it was still Mother's Day as long as she was awake and she said ok, but then mumbled to herself about it not being mudder's day tomorrow...apparently she doesn't like that very much.

Where has Gabriel been in all of this? Kissing me every two seconds. Today at the park every time he went down the slide, he came over and smooched me. Every time I turned around today he was giving me a hug, telling me he loved me, or kissing me. He's a little love that much is true.

Over all it was a great Mudder day; even if Geo did work a 12 hour overnight shift and come home exhausted. We had a nice brunch then he went to bed for a few hours so he could get up and go back to work again tonight. If it weren't for Geo, I would have never gotten to be a mudder OR celebrate mudder day, so thanks HH for making me a momma :)

Hope you all had a wonderful Mother's Day as well!

Sleeping To Dream

Bitsy is not what one would call a "good" sleeper. Gabriel slept through the night at six weeks and continues to do so to this day; sure he has to read for an hour or so before he falls asleep BUT he sleeps deeply and peacefully, something his sister still has not gotten the hang of.

Bitsy spent the first two years of her life snuggled up next to me being nursed to sleep. When she got to the point where nighttime nursing wasn't necessary (what a happy day THAT was ha ha) she still continued to prefer to be snuggled up to me to sleep. Bits seems to be that child who needs to be in contact with someone to sleep deeply. She'll snuggle up to Geo, Gabe, her aunt Buzzy, whomever, but she prefers to be near someone.

Since we moved, bedtime has been sheer hell; Bits doesn't WANT to go to sleep and when she DOES go to bed, she thinks she should been in our bed. Now, I love her to death and I don't mind the "middle of the night wander to momma's bed" occasionally however, lately it's gotten to the point where she sleeps in our bed more than Geo or I do. We take turns on the couch. (thankfully it's incredibly comfortable!)

Tonight was no exception, she fell asleep in our bed after fighting against bedtime for an hour. I got into bed to read a bit, she snuggled with me for about fourteen seconds, rolled over, told me to quit hogging "her" blankets and fell deeply asleep. I wish there was more I could do to help her sleep; Geo said to me tonight that he doesn't mind sleeping on the couch for a few more weeks if it helps her sleep easier. It's an incredibly helpless feeling when your child doesn't want to go to sleep and does not sleep peacefully on a regular basis. Tonight, though, she's sleeping very peacefully with a Boni cat on her feet and the blankets all to herself; I just hope it's the peaceful deep sleep she so desperately needs.

Sharing is Fun!!

My sweet little Bitsy girl is SO good at sharing; a bit too good if you ask me...this week she shared the stomach flu with me. It's been a fabulous last few days filled with toast, sleeping, and multiple trips to the "facilities" I am fairly certain the only one in the house who hasn't minded Bits and I being sick is Boni cat; he's been content to lay at the foot of my bed, on the electric blanket, comforting us. By comforting us, of course, I mean nipping our toes and meowing at us when we dare leave the bed for something. As I type this he's sleeping next to me on the chair and just meowed because I dared to pet him *gasp* the horror :P

Thankfully Geo and Gabe have NOT gotten this flu bug and it doesn't look they will either.

We'll be off line for a while as we get ready to move in the next few days. We're hoping to be in the new place Monday evening as long as everything goes as planned (lately nothing has gone as planned, so I am not counting on ANYTHING going right at this point...story of my life ha ha)

Not to worry though, we'll back up and blogging before you know it!

Oy Vey

Bits sometimes has what we call "train wreck" days...as in she gets completely derailed and loses control. God love the girl, she's so sweet and kind and sensitive. It's such a good thing to be, except for when she gets overwhelmed. Today was a level four trainwreck sort of day.

Bitsy and I have a running joke when I get dressed. She was nursed nearly two years so she is still fairly obsessed with my breasts; mostly she just likes to stare at them longingly and sigh, so in the morning when I get dressed, she makes a very big to do out of staring at me and I make a very big to do about saying "My eyes are up here lady!" She giggles, I giggle; a good time is had by all.

This morning I added the words "liverchops" to my phrase..and trainwreck one went a little something like this:
Mom: "hey liverchops, my eyes are up here!" *giggle*
Bitsy: "I'msorrymommaIwasjustlookingatyoubecauseyouaresobeautifulandIloveyou" [big deep breath, large dramatic sigh] "I'msosorrymommaIloveyouandI'msorryandI'mnotaliverchops" [sobsobsobsobsob]

For those who don't speak train wreck, let me translate:
I'm sorry momma, I was just looking at you because you are so beautiful and I love you. I'm so sorry momma, I love you and I'm sorry and I'm not a liverchops.

*sigh*

This, sadly, was the first of many trainwrecks in our day...

At Trader Joe's we had a disagreement; she wanted two packages of string cheese, I only wanted one. She sobbed "BUT MOMMMA GABE WILL NEED ONE AND I CAN'T SHARE MINE WITH HIM.PLEASE WE NEED TWO"

I am fairly certain the woman next to us would have bought the second string cheese based on the sobbing that followed me putting one package of string cheese back (okay, seriously, string cheese is expensive darn it and trader joe's is even MORE expensive than normal string cheese-don't judge me LOL)

A little while later, Daddy thought Bitsy should perhaps sit in her carseat and be buckled; she thought perhaps she should not. I didn't hear the entire conversation but I think I heard him mumble something about teenagers and grey hair...

And finally, we had a train wreck at walmart; she was starting to get tired, so it wasn't long and drawn out but it was filled with sobs and please oh please momma, I need this tinkerbell five hundred dollar toy or maybe a bike, yeah I need a bike, buy me this bike" *sigh*

Thank GOD she napped for a while this afternoon, I was about ready to have my own trainwreck over here...it would've gone something like...

IJUSTWANTADIETCOKEANDFIVEMINUTESTOMYSELFINTHEBATHROOMPLEASEOHPLEASECANIJUSTPEEINPEACEANDFINISHANENTIREDIETCOKEMYSELF? IPROMISEI'LLBENICEANDI'LLSHAREMYNEXTDIETCOKE. PLEASEPLEASEPLEASEPLEASE. [sobsobsobsob]

now it's off to bed, here's to hoping tomorrow will be an on the rails kind of day :P

Home schooled...

In profanity.

*sigh*
I have a confession to make; I have a horrible potty mouth. I try not to swear around the kids, but it sometimes slips out AND Gabriel can read and often DOES read over my shoulder when I type on my other blog where I am often very casual about throwing around the swears...

This morning I overheard Bitsy playing with her cousin in Gabe's room. What did I hear? I heard a teeny tiny Bitsy voice say "Quit being an a*hole and quit pushing me"

I was mortified...and a little bit proud. Only proud in the way that she used the word correctly and really, that's pretty impressive for a three year old. But mostly, I was mortified.

Bits is getting ready to start in a private Christian preschool in January. I am so afraid that she's going to be expelled her first week for using profanity. I can already imagine the phone call...

"Hello Mrs. Witkowski? Yes, this is about Bitsy, she used the word a*hole this morning to describe Cain"

"Well, really can you blame her, Cain WAS an a*hole, he killed his brother. Quite frankly I would have used something stronger to describe him."

"Mrs. Witkowski, that's not the point, she's three and using the word a*hole"

"Well at least she used it in the proper context right?"

*Big sigh from teacher*

I think I need to go wash my own mouth out with soap...

Lyle Lyle the Crocodile?

Are you familiar with this fellow? He's Lyle Lyle, the crocodile and apparently his family lives with us. I don't mean to alarm anyone BUT there are currently at LEAST three crocodiles living in my house. Let me explain...

SarahAnne is NEVER naughty; in fact, she's much like Calvin from Calvin and Hobbes and his infamous noodle incident-he's totally misunderstood. SarahAnne is never naughty, it's ALWAYS a crocodile who does the naughty things.

How about a few examples of what the crocodile has done in the last few days: The "man" crocodile (as I said, there are three crocs in my house: the man crocodile, the plain old crocodile, and the baby crocodile) ate her pants. Bits went to use the bathroom and came down without any undies or pants. When asked where they were, she quickly pointed upstairs and said tearfully, "The man crocodile ate them"

The plain old crocodile regularly messes with my computer, one day I had to scold "the crocodile" because all of my desk top icons disappeared AND my antivirus had been disabled...Poor innocent Bitsy walked in on the crocodile clicking at my computer...

The crocodile also cut holes in her pants. Why? Because she needed to see inside of her pants to look at her body and the crocodile helped her out. Who knew crocs could use scissors so well? Same with a quilt, the edge has been cut because the crocodile wanted to let Bitsy see inside of it...

And finally, this week the baby crocodile peed in her pants. I could hear her upstairs saying "you naughty baby crocodile, you can't pee in my pants, momma is gonna be so cross with you!" She came down and assured me that she sent the baby crocodile to her room to think about why what she did was naughty and could I maybe come help her get new pants from the closet since the crocodile peed in them?

*sigh*

At least she has a vivid imagination, right??

World Domination, One Leaf at a Time

Bitsy is quite possibly the silliest girl I know. This morning we were walking to the library (because the weather is absolutely gorgeous and I had to work) and we were stomping on all of the crunchy looking leaves to make the loudest noise possible. After a particularly crunchy leaf, Bits said to no one in particular "Aha! No one can stop us now!" I asked, "Um, what are you talking about Bitsy?" She said "oh never mind" and continued to crunch the leaves happily.

My sister has decided that she's going to take over the world, one crunch leaf at a time...watch out world, here comes Bitsy!

"You're My Best"

The other night, SarahAnne and I were having a bedtime snuggle; she was as close as she could possibly be to me without actually being on TOP of me (something she does frequently as well lol)with her nose pressed up against mine. She and I were chatting quietly when all of the sudden she took her nose off of mine, put her hand on my face and said "Mom, you're my best" I said "your best what Bitsy?" "My best fwend" she said, sweetly and quietly as she snuggled even closer to me.

Ah Bitsy girl, you sweet little thing...you're my best too :)

An Open Letter To Little Miss Me Too

Dear SarahAnne, (Dear hey! I'm Bitsy, not SarAnne)
I love you, dearly (lub you dearly) but this echo thing you've got goin' on (echo fing goin' on) is driving me INSANE (you're insane momma)

Yes, it's driving me absolutely insane. I appreciate that you are trying to helpful, whether you are hollering to Gabe to "pick up the pace and get YOU backpack" or "you lunchbox is on the shelf, Gworge, it's packed alwedy" It's bad enough that *I* have to yell these things, but now YOU are going to do it too?? Never mind that when I say something and you start to repeat it before I even have the words out of my mouth no one can understand me. I have to repeat what I'm trying to say and then of course YOU have to repeat yourself. It's a vicious and annoying, to say the least, cycle that you and I go through all day long.

As much as it drives me insane at home, it's even worse when we are out because people think you are A-DOR-ABLE for copying momma. Either these people a)have no kids or b)have kids who USED to do this and think it's hysterical someone else is feeling their pain. Either way-ANNOYING-especially while at, say, a physical therapy appointment when I'm trying to schedule other visits. A small voice saying "no actually, Tuesday won't work" does NOT help because then the scheduler is giggling. Actually, little miss me too, Tuesday DOES work, so there. (Who am I kidding, it doesn't, I just wanted to have my own independent thought for a second there)

Thank you for your help Bitsy, but please, for the love of God, before I pull my hair out, stop repeated everything I say (stop wepeating what you say momma?) Yes, stop repeating what I say (ok, I stop wepeating everything you say momma)

Love,
Momma

(love,
Momma)
